One of the hard things about giving a technical talk is creating a coherent example that while useful, is not too useful. When I am giving technical talks, I have a rule that I never create a real example. I go for something silly and stupid. I want the listener to be focusing on the concepts I am delivering and not thinking about how they can repurpose the code I am showing.
