Today marks 31 days of making something for me. I decided that this year, my goal was to be a better writer. The only way to be a better writer is to write more. So my system for becoming a better writer is to write every day.
I did for the most part. In January of 2019, I wrote 25 posts, including this one.
Scott Adams teaches in “How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big: Kind of the Story of My Life” that you set systems, not goals. Two of my first posts were about the fact that I set up systems, and that my systems were fault tolerant. Overall, I am pleased with my systems.
I did not succeed 100%, that is why they have to be fault tolerant. I succeeded enough though.
Most importantly, I am now in the habit of creating. It is a lot easier to create if you are in the habit of creating. It is easier to write code if you write code every day. It is easier to write words, if you write words every day.
I won’t pretend that anything I have written over the past 31 days has been earth shattering or deep. For the most part, the posts are for me; how I can improve myself.
Whether you do it once a day, once a week or once a month, get in the habit of creating something on a regular basis.
Until next time,
