There are no silver bullets

Monday, February 4th, 2019

Dear Reader,

“There is no silver bullet that’s going to fix that. No, we are going to have to use a lot of lead bullets.”

—  Bill Turpin

That’s a quote from “The Hard Thing About Hard Things” by Ben Horowitz.  A great book for any leader or anyone who wants to become a leader.

There have been a lot of times where I have spent days, evens weeks sometimes chasing a silver bullet solution; a solution that was new, shiny, and elegant.

Most of the time I had a workable solution. Something that would do the job with less effort on my part. I discarded it because it was a “lead bullet” and I wanted the shiny. I wanted the one silver bullet that would solve everything, instead of implementing a lot of lead bullets.

Quit trying to find the silver bullet, use the lead bullets you have already to solve the problem at hand.

Until next time,
